Tomohon – Pemerintah Kota Tomohon melalui Dinas Pengendalian Penduduk dan Keluarga Berencana Daerah Kota Tomohon, menggelar pencanangan Sekolah Siaga Penduduk yang di buka langsung oleh Sekretaris Daerah Kota Tomohon Ir. Harold V. Lolowang, MSc. mengambil tempat di SMA Kristen I Tomohon, Senin (16/09/19).
Kegiatan dialwali dengan Ibadah yang dipimpin oleh Pdt. DR. Arthur Rumengan, M.Theol, M.Pdk yang merupakan Sekretaris Yayasan Pendidikan GMIM DR. A.Z.R Wenas
Walikota Tomohon Jimmy Fidie Eman SE,Ak,CA, dalam sambutannya yang dibacakan oleh Sekda Lolowang menyampaikan bahwa Latar belakang pembentukan Sekolah Siaga Kependudukan (SSK) ini tidak lepas dari upaya pemerintah dalam menyikapi akan datangnya era bonus demografi di indonesia pada tahun 2020-2025 mendatang.
Pada era itu, jumlah penduduk usia produktif (15-64 tahun) proporsinya lebih dari 50% dibandingkan dengan kelompok usia non produktif (0-14 tahun dan > 65 tahun) pada era itu harus disiapkan generasi yang berkualitas, agar tenaga kerja yang melimpah pada saat ini mampu membawah berkat bukan malah menjadi bencana.
Sekolah Siaga Kependudukan adalah sekolah yang mengintegrasikan pendidikan kependudukan dan keluarga berencana ke dalam beberapa mata pelajaran sebagai pengayaan materi pembelajaran.
Setelah pencanangan SSK di sekolah ini, akan dilanjutkan pembentukkan Sekolah Siaga Kependudukan di sekolah SMP, SMA dan SMK se-Kota Tomohon.
Turut hadir Perwakilan BKKBN Provinsi Sulut Drs. Albert Baginda, Kepala Dinas Pengendalian Penduduk dan Keluarga Berencana Daerah Kota Tomohon Syerly Bororing, SP, MM.SIP, Kepala Sekolah SMA Kristen I Tomohon Ferly Rau, S.Pd, Para Siswa serta Undangan. (Oma)
