Minsel – Terkait ulah oknum wartawan yang diduga “memeras” sejumlah pejabat di Kabupaten Minahasa Selatan (Minsel), Ketua Persatuan Wartawan Indonesia (PWI) Minsel Douglas Panit angkat bicara.
Kepada media ini, Panit mengatakan bahwa apabila ada pejabat yang merasa dirugikan oknum wartawan tersebut dan mempunyai bukti silakan melapor ke pihak yang berwajib, PWI Minsel sebagai organisasi yang legal siap mendampingi.
“Kami siap mendampingi apabila ada pejabat yang membawa laporannya ke pihak yang berwajib karena ini jelas sangat meresahkan terlebih sudah mencoreng nama baik wartawan,”tandasnya.
Panit menambahkan, seorang jurnalis haruslah profesional dalam menjalankan tugasnya apalagi kalau wartawan tersebut sudah berkopetensi tentunya paham akan tupoksinya sesuai kode etik jurnalis yang berlaku.
Undang-Undang Nomor 40 tahun 1999 tentang Pers disahkan Presiden Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie pada tanggal 23 September 1999 di Jakarta. UU 40 tahun 1999 tentang Pers diundangkan Menteri Sekretaris Negara Muladi pada tanggal 23 September 1999 di Jakarta. Mengatur terkait kebebasan pers serta aturan-aturan lainnya yang terkandung didalamnya.
“Saya mengimbau untuk rekan-rekan pers khususnya di Minahasa Selatan agar menjadi wartawan yang profesional, menunjukan legalitas sebagai pers dan jangan melakukan hal-hal yang bertentangan dengan UU yang berlaku,”pungkas Panit. (*/QQ)
