Tomohon,-Komisi Pemlihan Umum (KPU) Kota Tomohon terus mensosialisasikan penyelenggaraan Pilkada 27 November mendatang. Kali ini, sosialisasi menyasar penyandang disabilitas di Kota Tomohon yang berlangsung di Lumimpasot Cafe and Hall, Kamis (12/9/2024).
Ketua Divisi Sosialisasi, Pendidikan Pemilih, Partisipasi Masyarakat dan SDM, Rojer Datu S.Sos mengatakan, konstitusi pada Undang Undang Dasar 1945 telah memberikan jaminan persamaan hak politik kepada setiap warga negara.
“Konstitusi dengan jelas dan tegas tidak menoleransi segala bentuk diskriminasi politik atas dasar suku, agama, ras golongan, jenis kelamin termasuk penyandang disabilitas,” kata Datu.
Dia menuturkan, semua warga negara sama kedudukannya dalam hukum dan pemerintahan.
Karena itu KPU berkewajiban untuk memfasilitasi dengan baik pemenuhan hak-hak politik warga.
“Kami ingin memenuhi prinsip keadilan bagi semua termasuk teman-teman penyandang disabilitas. Semua peraturan teknis menyatakan Pemilu senantiasa memperhatikan kepentingan penyandang disabilitas,” terang Datu.
Dia menambahkan, pada Pemilu lalu terdapat 668 pemilih penyandang disabilitas.
Harapannya, dalam Pilkada 2024 dapat menyalurkan hak suara.
“Akan tetapi pelaksanaan sosialiasi bukan hanya soal target atau seberapa tinggi partisipasi pemilih yang ingin dicapai. Melainkan hak konstitusional dari bapak/ibu penyandang disabilitas dapat terwujud. Itu menjadi harapan kami sebagai penyelenggara Pemilu,” pungkas Datu.
