Minsel -Bupati Minahasa Selatan Franky Donny Wongkar, SH bersama Wakil Bupati Minahasa Selatan Pdt. Petra Yani Rembang, melakukan Panen Kentang Program UPLAND dari Kelompok Tani PKB Sion Pinasungkulan, Sabtu (22/10/2022).
Dalam kegiatan Panen Kentang Program UPLAND turut dihadiri Plt Ketua DPRD Kabupaten Minahasa Selatan Stefanus Lumowa, SE.
Program UPLAND merupakan kegiatan pertanian di dataran tinggi yang komprehensif dari pengembangan on-farm sampai off-farm. Program ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kapasitas, daya inovasi serta pendapatan petani.
Proyek UPLAND ini mempunyai beberapa tujuan, salah satunya untuk meningkatkan produktivitas pertanian dan pendapatan petani di daerah dataran tinggi melalui pengembangan infrastruktur lahan dan air, pengembangan sistem agribisnis dan penguatan sistem kelembagaan.
Kemudian membangun sentra pembibitan, dilengkapi dengan prasarana dan sarana budidaya benih modern, hingga peningkatan kelembagaan petani menjadi mandiri dan memiliki posisi tawar yang lebih baik serta pengembangan pasar untuk komoditas pertanian baik domestik maupun ekspor.
Bupati Minahasa Selatan Franky Donny Wongkar, SH dalam kesempatan tersebut menyampaikan semoga melalui Program ini dapat mengingkatkan Ekonomi para Petani yang ada dan menyampaikan untuk dikerjakan sebaik mungkin karena di Provinsi Sulawesi Utara hanya kabupaten Minahasa Selatan yang masuk dalam 14 kabupaten Proyek pilot (percontohan) UPLAND.
