Sulut-Wakil Gubernur Sulut Steven Kandouw meminta masyarakat untuk tetap waspada dalam menghadapi cuaca ekstrim yang belakangan ini melanda Sulut hingga delapan hari ke depan.
Peringatan ini diucapkan Wakil Gubernur Steven Kandouw mengacu pada informasi terkini yang dikeluarkan BMKG.
“Kita ingatkan kepada masyarakat agar waspada dan hati-hati. Cuaca ekstrim tidak bisa ditebak sehingga ada potensi menimbulkan bencana” Ujar Wagub Kandouw.
Lanjut di katakan Wagub Kandouw, dirinya telah melakukan koordinasi dengan Dinas Pekerjaan Umum (PU), Badan Penanggulangan Bencana Daerah (BPBD), sesuai tugas pokok dan fungsi (tupoksi) mereka harus siap mengantisipasi segala kemungkinan,” kata Wagub Kandouw kepada wartawan di Manado, Senin (8/7/2024).
Ia juga menekankan pentingnya kewaspadaan bagi masyarakat yang tinggal di daerah rawan longsor, mengingat intensitas curah hujan yang tinggi dapat memicu banjir dan tanah longsor.
“Saya imbau masyarakat yang tinggal di tepi sungai dan lereng-lereng untuk waspada. Akhir-akhir ini debit hujan di atas rata-rata, saya harap ini menjadi perhatian,” tukasnya.
Diketahui, cuaca ekstrim adalah fenomena alam yang ditandai dengan kondisi curah hujan, arah dan kecepatan angin, suhu udara, kelembaban udara, dan jarak pandang yang tidak normal dan dapat menimbulkan kerugian. (***/J.Mo)
